I have now written a second short book to help people take their original TES teaching resources and make them sparkle a little bit more to help them get better sales. These tests are set to change every 5 seconds, letting you test either individual children or a whole class at once. There are 4 tests per times table, so the children do not know what test you will give them. They are written in PowerPoint so you can easily edit them or change the speed of the tests.

FREE The Stick Man Story Workbook - 16 Thinking Hat Worksheets For Fun Creative Reading In Class. The Stick Man is all about a piece of wood which gets taken away by a dog, picked up by a girl and thrown in the river... where he is found by a swan. At each point he is further and further from home and less likely to make it back... this set of worksheets looks at the different Thinking Hat approaches to this book. They will consider facts, feelings, positives, negatives, creative approaches and finally make a mind map. This book does not contain any of the original drawings or text. You still need to find a copy of the book to complete this workbook. I would love feedback on this work.

I like to ask the class a question, give the class a certain amount of time to solve the question and then show me the answer on their mini whiteboards. I have taken the KS2 SATs numeracy question papers for the 2015 test and combined the question and answer booklets into a single presentation. This is a great way of teaching as there is an instant feedback and explanation as to how to solve each problem. This helps to challenge and consolidate the classes learning. This teaching resource could be used for whole class teaching and checking, or at home as a one to one resource with a tutor. These teaching resources make maths less stressful and so the students are more motivated to succeed! I have created resources for levels 3-5 and also separate resources for Level 6 students. All the students should attempt all the papers to both consolidate and strengthen their basic learning and also extend their skills to a higher level. Getting ready for the summer Phonics test? Here are two Phonics revision tests from previous years. I have converted 4 documents into a simple to use PowerPoint. It starts off with practice words. These include both real and made up words. These help students to revise how to say the words and to prepare them for the test. This is followed by the practice test. There are 2 levels, a simple level and a trickier level, In each case there are real and made-up words. This is followed by recommendations on how to say each word. This is followed by the marking sheet. These PowerPoints are fun, colourful and an easy way to practice the words either with a whole class or one by one with the students. It is also an excellent way for parents to practice with their children at home. Make phonics testing fun... try this set of PowerPoints today!

I have been a keen fan of this book for a long time. I was really excited to see as part of the Open Government scheme, I was able to take this book and make it into something I believe is much more user friendly. When I used the original book with an interactive whiteboard, I was always annoyed at having to skim to the end of the book to show an answer. I wanted it on the next page. In addition, I have now replaced all the pictured with much more stimulating colourful pictures. I have also taken the time to follow the advice of Dudley council and sorted the different problems into age groups and blocks. You will notice there is some repetition of problems both between blocks and in different year groups. The students can try the same problem twice at different times, as this is excellent consolidation. It is also an excellent time to suggest students think about how they could change the problem. How can this be used in the classroom? This could be used as an assessment at the start or the end of a unit. It also could be used as an emergency set of lessons for any teacher while covering another teacher’s maths classes. In addition, it is also an excellent set of resources to prepare for different exams. Look at how the students resolve a problem and identify the different ways different students attempt to answer the same problem. In addition to answering the problems, this is also an excellent time to look into inverse operations. How do we know we have found all the answers? How do we know we have found the correct answer? I have really enjoyed making these mental maths problems a lot more accessible. I have enjoyed teaching them in a wide range of different classes and I hope that you too will enjoy making maths fun.

They would also make excellent homework sheets. FREE Magic Train Workbook - 16 Thinking Hat Worksheets - Makes Guided Reading A Lot More Fun For All I have decided to build as many Thinking Hat resources as I can for TES readers. I have started by making resources for the fabulous Magic Train book (Published by Barefoot books). I took into account the need for simple text, clear font and I only have used self made resources and public domain resources, I have not used images from the books. I have organised them into sets of three - 3 Red Hat, 3 Yellow Hat, 3 Black Hat, 3 White Hat, 3 Green Hat and 1 Blue Hat. Comments for future improvements welcome.

Lesson 3: Which fraction is bigger? This is a few of the resources I made to help Year 7 students with numeracy. I made them about a decade ago from UK government advice about how to approach different KS3 maths topics. I am sure they still could be useful for covering lessons and passing to a supply teacher.

When I am revising maths, I like to ask a question and then the students answer it on their mini whiteboards. We then check the answer on the following slide. I have combined the test papers with the marking scheme, making teaching and learning a lot more fun. There is differentiated revision material. There are tests for levels 3 - 5, and tests for level 6, and some which are for all the students. All the students should try all the tests, to both consolidate and extend their learning to make sure they have the maximum chance of reaching their true potential. I have presented them in the different PowerPoint formats for the older and more modern computers. Did you know pairing a high achieving and less high achieving child together actually helps both? As the more advanced student explains how to solve a problem, they too improve their knowledge of mathematical vocabulary.
